Brachythrix adalah genus tumbuhan berbunga dalam keluarga Asteraceae.[1][2] Tumbuhan ini berasal dari wilayah tropis Afrika bagian selatan-tengah dan timur.[3]
Tumbuhan ini merupakan herba tahunan yang menghasilkan batang baru setiap tahun dari rizoma (batang di bawah tanah) yang berkayu dan terkadang berumbai wol. Akarnya mungkin memiliki umbi. Batangnya biasanya bercabang dan memiliki banyak daun yang tersusun berseling. Tumbuhannya berbulu, dengan beberapa jenis rambut panjang dan pendek yang berbeda. Kepala bunganya soliter, berkelompok, atau tersusun dalam bunga majemuk (sima). Bunga ini mengandung floret cakram berwarna ungu. Buahnya berupa sipsela (buah kering yang tidak membuka) yang bersudut dan berbintik kelenjar dengan pappus berupa sisik atau rambut pendek berduri.[3]
