Colponemida adalah alveolata yang hidup bebas, flagelata uniseluler yang berkerabat dengan dinoflagellata, apikompleksan, dan siliata. Mereka adalah predator dari eukariota kecil lainnya, biasanya ditemukan di lingkungan air tawar, laut, dan tanah. Mereka tidak membentuk klad yang solid, melainkan sebuah kelompok yang tersebar yang terdiri dari cabang garis keturunan alveolata yang dalam.
