Deksbromfeniramin adalah antihistamin dengan sifat antikolinergik[1] yang digunakan untuk mengobati kondisi alergi seperti rinitis alergi atau urtikaria. Obat ini adalah isomer dekstrorotasi bromfeniramin yang aktif secara farmakologis. Obat ini sebelumnya dipasarkan dalam kombinasi dengan pseudoefedrin dengan nama Drixoral di AS dan Kanada. Obat ini adalah antihistamin alkilamina.
Deksbromfeniramin adalah antihistamin generasi pertama yang mengurangi efek neurotransmiter histamin dalam tubuh; bersin, gatal, mata berair, dan hidung meler.
Interaksi
Penghambat MAO dalam waktu 14 hari. Penghambat MAOnya meliputi isokarboksazid, linezolid, fenelzin, rasagilin, selegilin, dan tranilsipromin.
Meminum alkohol dapat meningkatkan efek samping dari deksbromfeniramin.
