ERG5 atau Sterol 22-desaturase adalah enzim sitokrom P450 dalam jalur biosintesis ergosterol pada fungi Saccharomyces cerevisiae (khamir roti, sebuah organisme model), dengan Simbol CYP CYP61A1.[1] CYP61A1 adalah satu dari hanya tiga enzim P450 yang ditemukan pada khamir roti, dua lainnya adalah CYP51F1 dan CYP56A1.[2] Ortolog pada Schizosaccharomyces pombe (khamir belah, fungi model kedua yang diurutkan genomnya), diberi nama CYP61A3 karena alasan historis, dan hanya merupakan satu dari dua enzim P450 yang ditemukan bersama CYP51F1.[3] ERG5 mengatalisis pembentukan ikatan rangkap C22-C23 pada rantai samping sterol dari ergostatrienol untuk mengubahnya menjadi ergostatetraenol, kemudian ikatan rangkap C24 pada ergostatetraenol akan direduksi melalui hidrogenasi menjadi ergosterol oleh ERG4.[4]
Ortolog
