Flavoksat adalah antikolinergik dengan efek antimuskarinik. Sifat relaksan ototnya mungkin disebabkan oleh tindakan langsung pada otot polos daripada antagonisnya terhadap reseptor muskarinik.
Kegunaan dalam medis
Flavoksat digunakan untuk mengobati spasmofili kandung kemih.
Flavoksat diindikasikan untuk meredakan gejala sistitis interstisial, disuria, urgensi, nokturia, nyeri suprapubik, frekuensi dan inkontinensia seperti yang mungkin terjadi pada sistitis, prostatitis, uretritis, uretrosistitis/uretrotrigonitis.
Efek samping
Flavoxate umumnya dapat ditoleransi dengan baik, namun berpotensi menyebabkan muntah, sakit perut, mulut atau tenggorokan kering, penglihatan kabur, nyeri mata,[1] dan peningkatan sensitivitas mata terhadap cahaya.
Kontraindikasi
Flavoksat dikontraindikasikan pada pasien yang memiliki salah satu kondisi obstruktif berikut: obstruksi pilorus atau duodenum, lesi usus obstruktif atau ileus, akalasia, perdarahan gastrointestinal, dan uropati obstruktif pada saluran kemih bagian bawah.

Obat ini tersedia dengan nama dagang Urispas di india dan Indonesia, Genurin (oleh Recordati, Italia) di Italia dan Arab Saudi, Uritac oleh perusahaan El Saad di Suriah, Bladderon oleh Nippon Shinyaku di Jepang, Bladuril di Chili, dan Utispas (Apex Pharma) di Nepal.
