Emily Fortune Feimster (/ˈfiːmstər/; lahir 1 Juli 1980)[1] adalah seorang penulis, komedian dan aktris asal Amerika Serikat. Setelah membuat debut televisinya di Last Comic Standing pada tahun 2010,[1] ia berperan sebagai Colette di The Mindy Project (2015–2017). Pada Juli 2019, ia mulai menjadi pembawa acara radio What a Joke with Papa and Fortune dengan Tom Papa, mewawancarai komedian dan selebritas.[2] Ia memerankan Heather dalam The L Word: Generation Q.[3]
Kehidupan awal
Feimster lahir di Charlotte, Carolina Utara, putri dari pasangan Mike dan Ginger Feimster; anak bungsu dari tiga bersaudara, dengan dua kakak laki-laki, Price dan Jay. Fortune adalah nama gadis nenek buyut dari pihak ibunya.[1] Tumbuh besar di Belmont, Carolina Utara, ia bersekolah di SD Belmont Central dan SMP Belmont,[1] kemudian lulus dari SMA South Point pada tahun 1998.[4] Pada tahun yang sama, ia diperkenalkan kepada masyarakat di Gastonia Debutante Ball.[1] Di South Point, ia bermain basket, softball dan tenis.[1]
Ia kuliah di Peace College, yang saat itu merupakan universitas khusus perempuan, dan terpilih sebagai presiden kampus, mengambil jurusan komunikasi, serta bermain sepak bola dan tenis. Ia lulus dengan predikat summa cum laude dan menjadi pembicara mahasiswa pada wisuda tahun 2002.[1]
Setelah tinggal di Spanyol selama setahun, ia pindah ke Los Angeles pada tahun 2003 untuk menjadi asisten pribadi Procter[1] dan menekuni komedi.[5] Setelah terhubung dengan tetangga Procter, seorang jurnalis untuk Los Angeles Daily News, Feimster memulai karier tujuh tahun dalam jurnalisme hiburan.[1] Pada tahun 2005, ia bergabung dengan The Groundlings Theatre, mempelajari improvisasi dan komedi sketsa. Setelah empat tahun, ia terpilih untuk bergabung dengan Groundlings' Sunday Company.[6][1]
Kehidupan pribadi
Feimster mengaku sebagai lesbian[7] pada tahun 2005 di usia 25 tahun.[1] Pada tahun 2016, ia mulai berkencan dengan guru taman kanak-kanak Jacquelyn Smith,[1] bertunangan pada awal tahun 2018.[8] Ia dan Smith memiliki rumah di Los Angeles dan Belmont, Carolina Utara. Mereka menikah dalam sebuah upacara kecil pada 23 Oktober 2020.[1] Feimster dan Smith mengumumkan keputusan mereka untuk bercerai dalam sebuah pernyataan bersama pada 2 Juni 2025.[9]
