General Stud Book
General Stud Book adalah surat trah kuda di Britania Raya dan Irlandia. Lebih khusus lagi, buku ini digunakan untuk mendokumentasikan pembiakan kuda ras unggul dan kuda-kuda pendiri ras, seperti kuda Arab. Saat ini, buku ini diterbitkan setiap empat tahun oleh Weatherbys.[1] Jilid ke-49 diterbitkan pada tahun 2021.[2]
Pada tahun 1791, James Weatherby menerbitkan Introduction to a General Stud Book, yang merupakan upaya untuk mengumpulkan silsilah kuda-kuda yang sedang berlomba saat itu dan yang pernah berlomba di masa lalu. Buku tersebut penuh dengan kesalahan dan sama sekali tidak lengkap, tetapi populer dan pada tahun 1793 mengarah pada terbitnya jilid pertama General Stud Book yang memiliki lebih banyak silsilah dan lebih akurat. Volume pertama direvisi berkali-kali, yang paling penting pada tahun 1803, 1808, 1827, 1859, dan 1891.[3]
General Stud Book telah dimiliki oleh Weatherbys sejak saat itu; dua otoritas pacuan kuda yang mencakup Britania Raya, British Horseracing Authority di Britania Raya (sebelumnya Jockey Club) dan Horse Racing Ireland untuk seluruh Pulau Irlandia, termasuk Irlandia Utara, tidak mengelola pendaftaran tersebut.[4][5][6] Hal ini berbeda dengan American Stud Book yang dimiliki oleh United States Jockey Club.[7]
