Gymnostemon adalah genus monotipe dari tumbuhan dalam famili Simaroubaceae. Spesies tunggalnya, Gymnostemon zaizou, adalah pohon hutan semi-gugur daun. Tumbuhan ini endemik di Pantai Gading dan terancam oleh kehilangan habitat di seluruh wilayah aslinya di Cekungan Sungai Sassandra.[2] G. zaizou adalah spesies kayu keras komersial yang beradaptasi dengan baik terhadap curah hujan tinggi di Afrika barat. Kayu dari spesies pohon ini juga digunakan secara lokal untuk membuat alat musik perkusi bernada.[3]
