Iris lactea adalah sebuah spesies dalam genus Iris. Spesies ini berada dalam subgenus Limniris serta menjadi satu-satunya spesies dalam seri Ensatae. Iris air jepang, Iris ensata, meski namanya mirip, berada pada seri Laevigatae. Tumbuhan ini menahun dan berrimpang tebal,[2][3] berasal dari Asia tengah, dan menyandang bunga violet atau biru. Tumbuhan ini dibudidayakan sebagai tanaman hias di iklim sedang.
Tumbuhan ini tumbuh hingga tinggi di antara 3–50 cm (1–18 in),[4][5][6] dengan tangkai bunga sepanjang 10–30 cm (4–12 in).[7][8]
