Jengger
Jengger merupakan pertumbuhan berdaging atau balung di atas kepala burung galliformes, terutama kalkun, burung pegar, dan ayam negeri. Jengger umumnya lebih besar pada jantan daripada betina.
Jengger ayam berwarna merah, tetapi pada spesies lain warna mungkin bervariasi dari abu-abu terang sampai biru gelap, Jengger kalkun dapat bervariasi dalam warna dari merah cerah ke biru.[1]
Jengger juga dapat menjadi indikator kesehatan bagi beberapa jenis unggas.[2]
Kegunaan lain
Karena warnanya yang cerah dan bentuknya yang khas, 'jengger' juga dipakai untuk menyebut beberapa tumbuhan. Contohnya Celosia cristata (jengger ayam).
Juga dalam dunia gaya seperti topi jester. Serta di bidang kuliner untuk menyebut bentuk pasta (creste di galli).
