Joseph William George Marler (lahir 7 Juli 1990) adalah mantan pemain rugby union Inggris yang bermain sebagai prop untuk klub Premiership Rugby Harlequins.[1][2] Ia bermain untuk tim nasional Inggris hingga pensiun pada November 2024.[3] Sejak pensiun ia menjadi podcaster dan tokoh televisi.
Kehidupan awal
Marler menempuh pendidikan di SD Maynards Green dan Heathfield Community College dan mulai bermain pada usia 11 tahun untuk Eastbourne Sharks.[4] Langkah-langkahnya dalam permainan tidak hanya mencakup bermain untuk Sussex U-14-18 tetapi juga mewakili London & South East pada tahun 2006.
Marler memulai kariernya di Haywards Heath RFC di Sussex di mana ia bermain di tim yang sama dengan sesama pemain internasional Inggris, Billy Twelvetrees.[5][6]
Kehidupan pribadi
Marler menikah dengan istrinya, Daisy; mereka memiliki empat anak.[7][8]
Marler secara terbuka mengakui bahwa ia sering mengalami masalah kesehatan mental. Hal ini menjadi subjek dokumenter Sky Sports tahun 2021 berjudul Big Boys Don't Cry, yang ditayangkan bertepatan dengan Pekan Kesadaran Kesehatan Mental.[9]
