Kamal Suleiman Salibi (bahasa Arab: كمال سليمان الصليبي ) (2 Mei 1929 – 1 September 2011)[1][2] adalah seorang sejarawan Lebanon, profesor sejarah di Universitas Amerika Beirut (AUB) dan Direktur Pendiri (kemudian Presiden Kehormatan) Institut Pembelajaran Antar-Keyakinan Kerajaan di Amman, Yordania.[3] Ia merupakan seorang sarjana seumur hidup, yang mengiprahkan hidupnya ke dalam buku-buku.[4]
Karier
Lahir dari sebuah keluarga Protestan di Beirut,[5] keluarga Salibi berasal dari desa Lebanon Bhamdoun di Lebanon Mandat Prancis. Setelah belajar di sekolah misionaris Prancis di Bhamdoun dan Broummana,[6] ia menyelesaikan pendidikan menengahnya di Prep School di Beirut (sekarang International College), dan gelar BA-nya dalam bidang Ilmu Pengetahuan Sejarah dan Politik dari AUB, sebelum berpindah ke Sekolah Pembelajaran Dunia Timur dan Afrika, SOAS (Universitas London) dimana ia mendapatkan gelar PhD-nya dalam bidang sejarah pada 1953 dibawah bimbingan sejarawan Bernard Lewis.[7] Disertasinya kemudian diterbitkan dengan judul Maronite Historians of Mediaeval Lebanon.[8]
