Megapoda vanuatu (Megapodius layardi) adalah spesies burung dalam keluarga Megapodiidae. Sebelumnya dikenal sebagai unggas semak New Hebrides yang hanya dapat ditemukan di Vanuatu. Habitat aslinya adalah hutan dataran rendah lembab subtropis atau tropis. Spesies ini terancam karena hilangnya habitat dan pengumpulan telur.[2][3]
Taksonomi
Dua tipe spesimen Megapodius layardi Tristram (Ibis, 1879, p. 194.) disimpan di koleksi Museum Nasional Liverpool di World Museum dengan nomor akses T9758 (jantan dewasa) dan T9759 (betina dewasa). Spesimen ini dikumpulkan di pulau Vate (Efate) pada bulan Juli 1877 dan September 1877 oleh Edgar Leopold Layard. Spesimen ini menjadi koleksi nasional Liverpool yang dibeli dari koleksi Canon Henry Baker Tristram pada tahun 1896.[4] Terdapat tiga tipe lebih koleksi burung di Museum Zoologi Walter Rothschild di Tring.[5][6]
