Nowellia adalah genus lumut hati dalam famili Cephaloziaceae. Nama genus ini diambil untuk menghormati William Nowell (1880–1968), seorang botaniwan dan mikologiwan berkebangsaan Inggris, yang melakukan penelitian di Trinidad dan menulis buku[1] Diseases of crop-plants in the Lesser Antilles (1923).[2]
