Ochna obtusata adalah semak berkayu atau pohon kecil dengan daun yang mengilap. Tanaman ini memiliki bunga berwarna kuning yang menarik, diikuti oleh biji-biji yang dikelilingi oleh sepal berwarna merah cerah. Cawan biji berwarna merah cerah tersebut tidak kalah menariknya dengan bunganya. Bijinya pada awalnya berwarna hijau, namun kemudian berubah menjadi hitam pekat. Cawan biji merah tersebut terlihat seperti wajah karakter kartun Disney, Mickey Mouse. Perbanyakan dilakukan melalui biji yang tumbuh dengan cepat, atau melalui stek kayu keras yang pertumbuhannya lebih lambat.[2]
