Paeonia intermedia adalah spesies tumbuhan berbunga dalam keluarga peony Paeoniaceae, yang berasal dari Asia Tengah (kecuali Turkmenistan), Pegunungan Altai, dan Xinjiang di Tiongkok.[1] Tanaman herba tahunan ini dapat mencapai ketinggian 70 cm (28 in), ditemukan di lereng bersemak dan berumput, serta di kawasan hutan terbuka, pada ketinggian 1.100 hingga 3.000 m (3.600 hingga 9.800 ft).[2] Tanaman ini merupakan diploid dengan rumus kariotipe 2n = 2x = 10 = 6m + 2sm + 2st.[3]
