Ratite (/ˈrætaɪts/) adalah sebuah pengelompokan hewan polifiletik yang mencakup semua burung dalam infrakelas Palaeognathae yang tidak memiliki lunas dan tak mampu terbang.[3] Merkea umumnya berukuran besar, berleher dan berkaki panjang, dengan kiwi sebagai pengecualian, yang juga menjadi satu-satunya jenis ratit hidup yang memiliki gaya hidup nokturnal.
