Sir E. Ray Lankester KCB, FRS (15 Mei 1847 – 13 Agustus 1929) merupakan seorang zoolog Britania, yang lahir di London.[1]
Sebagai seorang ahli zoologi invertebrata dan biologi evolusi, ia mengetuai Universitas Kolese London dan Universitas Oxford. Ia merupakan Direktur Museum Sejarah Alam ketiga, dan dianugerahi Copley Medal dari Royal Society.
Kehidupan
E. (Edwin: nama pertamanya tidak pernah digunakan) Ray Lankester adalah putra dari Edwin Lankester, seorang koroner[2] dan doktor-naturalis yang membantu mengendalikan kolera di London. Ray Lankester mungkin dinamai dari nama naturalis John Ray: ayahnya sempat menyunting memorial John Ray dari Ray Society.
