Rok matematika, atau lebih dikenal dalam bahasa Inggris sebagai math rock, adalah gaya rok alternatif dan indie rock[2] yang berakar pada grup-grup seperti King Crimson, Yes, dan Rush.[3][4] Genre ini dicirikan oleh struktur ritmis yang kompleks dan tidak lazim (termasuk penghentian dan permulaan yang tidak beraturan), kontrapung, tanda birama ganjil, dan akor yang diperluas. Math rock telah diklasifikasikan sebagai turunan atau subgenre rok eksperimental, dengan berbagi etos avant-garde serta penekanan pada musik yang dikomposisi secara menyeluruh alih-alih bentuk lagu tradisional.[5][6][7] Genre ini juga dideskripsikan memiliki kemiripan dengan post-rock, sebagai "sisi berlawanan dari koin yang sama". Dengan memilih pendekatan penulisan lagu dan timbre yang lebih "rok", gaya ini sering dimainkan oleh ansambel yang lebih kecil yang menekankan peran gitar.[2]
