Simplas

Simplas adalah kontinum sitoplasma yang berhubungan oleh plasmodesmata pada tumbuhan dan berfungsi untuk mengangkut air dan mineral dari akar ke xilem.[1] Proses penyerapan air dan zat hara dalam akar tumbuhan dapat melalui dua jalan, yaitu di luar pembuluh dan di dalam pembuluh.[2] Pengangkutan di luar pembuluh terbagi menjadi apoplas dan simplas.[3] Simplas mencakup sitoplasma semua sel tumbuhan dan vakuola.[2] Simplas merupakan satu unit karena protoplas sel yang berdampingan saling berhubungan melalui plasmodesmata.[2] bahan seperti glukosa dapat melewati plasmodesmata dari sel ke sel ribuan kali lebih cepat daripada dengan menembus membran dan dinding sel.[2] Tapi partikel yang lebih besar dari 10 nm tidak dapat melewati plasmodesmata.[2]
