Sinyal peringatan
Dalam komunikasi hewan, sinyal peringatan adalah sebuah adaptasi antipredator dalam bentuk sinyal yang dilakukan oleh hewan-hewan sosial dalam menanggapi bahaya. Banyak primata dan burung mengeluarkan sinyal peringatan untuk memperingatkan keberadaan predator yang mendekat. Contohnya, sinyal peringatan burung hitam menjadi suara familiar di banyak taman. Hewan lainnya, seperti ikan dan serangga, memakai sinyal tak terdengar, seperti pesan kimia. Tanda-tanda visual seperti ekor putih yang dikibaskan banyak rusa dianggap sebagai sinyal peringatan.
