Sutra Empat Puluh Dua Bab

Sutra Empat Puluh Dua Bab (juga disebut Sutra Empat Puluh Dua Bagian, Tionghoa: 四十二章經) sering kali dianggap sebagai sutra Buddha India pertama yang diterjemahkan ke dalam bahasa Tionghoa. Namun, kumpulan aforisme tersebut muncul beberapa kali setelah terjemahan pertamanya, dan mungkin dikompilasikan di Asia Tengah atau Tiongkok.[1] Menurut tradisi, karya tersebut diterjemahkan oleh dua biksu Yuezhi, Kasyapa Matanga (迦葉摩騰) dan Dharmaratna (竺法蘭), pada 67 M. Karena kaitannya dengan agama Buddha Tiongkok secara keseluruhan, karya tersebut memegang status paling signifikan di Asia Timur.[2]
