Taeniidae /tɪˈnaɪ.ɪdiː/ adalah sebuah keluarga cacing pita (Kelas Cestoda), dan merupakan keluarga terbesar dalam ordo Cyclophyllidea.[2] Cacing ini mencakup banyak spesies yang memiliki kepentingan medis dan kedokteran hewan, seperti Taenia solium (cacing pita babi), Taenia saginata (cacing pita daging sapi), dan Echinococcus granulosus. Taeniidae merupakan parasit mamalia dan banyak yang menular ke manusia.
Siklus Kehidupan
Taeniidae dibedakan berdasarkan siklus hidupnya di darat, yang meliputi tahap tidak aktif (disebut metacestode). Taeniidae berkembang di jaringan inang perantara setelah telurnya dikonsumsi. Telurnya menetas menjadi onkosfer, yang melewati dinding usus dan membentuk metacestode. Contohnya adalah sistiserkoid, sistiserkus, atau kista hidatidosa. Inang definitif terinfeksi ketika metacestode dikonsumsi.
