Toronia adalah genus pohon dalam keluarga Proteaceae yang terdiri dari spesies tunggal, Toronia toru, yang endemik di Selandia Baru. Genus ini berkerabat dekat dengan genus besar Persoonia, dan sebenarnya spesies ini telah lama dianggap sebagai bagian dari genus tersebut sebelum ditempatkan ke dalam genus barunya sendiri oleh Lawrie Johnson dan Barbara G. Briggs dalam monograf mereka tahun 1975 yang berjudul "On the Proteaceae: the evolution and classification of a southern family".[1]
Namun, studi filogenetik menunjukkan bahwa Toronia berada di dalam genus yang lebih besar, Persoonia, di mana ia pernah dimasukkan sebelumnya.[2]
Toronia toru adalah pohon hijau abadi yang ditemukan di bagian utara Pulau Utara dan merupakan satu dari hanya dua anggota keluarga protea yang terdapat di Selandia Baru.[3]
Toronia toru tumbuh setinggi 7 – 11 meter dan memiliki daun hijau yang panjang dan ramping, bunga kuning kecil, serta buah berdaging berwarna merah hingga ungu-biru tua.
