Triptorelin adalah hormon buatan yang dapat merangsang produksi hormon tertentu secara berlebihan, sehingga menyebabkan produksi hormon berhenti sementara. Triptorelin biasanya digunakan untuk mengobati gejala kanker prostat. Triptorelin hanya bisa mengatasi gejala kanker prostat, tetapi tidak mengobati kanker itu sendiri.[3][4]
Obat ini dipatenkan pada 1975 dan disetujui untuk pemakaian medis pada 1986.[5]
