Xylariales adalah salah satu ordo fungi dalam kelas Sordariomycetes. Ini adalah ordo asli dari subkelas Xylariomycetidae. Xylariales dibatasi pada tahun 1932 oleh ahli mikologi Swedia yakni John Axel Nannfeldt,[1] dan Xylariomycetidae oleh Ove Erik Eriksson dan Katarina Winka pada tahun 1997. Pada tahun 2020, lebih banyak famili dan genus yang ditambahkan ke dalam ordo ini.[2]
Analisis DNA pada tahun 2018 menetapkan penempatan ordo dan subkelasnya, yang merupakan saudara dari ordo Amphisphaeriales.[3][4]
