De Chopf isch wiis, aber um de wissi Schnabel und um d Auge root und d Chappe isch schwarz. De Buuch isch wiislich mit hellbruune Flecke. Mandli und Wiibli gsiend gliich uus. Tisteli wered 12 bis 14 cm grooss, hend e Spannwiiti vo 21 bis 25 cm und wöget 12 bis 18 Gramm.
Lebeswiis
S Tisteli lebt i ufglockrete Laub- und Mischwälder, i Pärk und uf Fridhööf i Sidligsnööchi. S baut us Hälm, Wörzeli und Mies e Nest uf hööche Bömm und polsteret da mit Hoor und Wule uus. Tischteli fresset Söömli, Chnospe und Insekte. De Name het s wells, vor alem Söömli us de Tistle pike tuet.
