E Hocker oder Höcker, isch e Sitzmöbel ooni Lääne. Mit Lääne wärs en Stuel oder en Sässel. Mä säit em Hocker au Schemel (über althoochdütsch [fuoʒ]scamil us spootlatiinisch scamillus, „Bänkli“ zu latiinisch scamnum, „Bank“) oder Daburett.
Hocker si scho in dr Antike bekannt gsi. Im Middelalter isch s näben em Bangg s Sitzmöbel gsi, wo am witiste verbräitet gsi isch. Dr Stuel isch bis ins 16. Joorhundert vor allem für die Meebessere und für e Huusheer und si Frau doo gsi.
Sit em Ändi vom 16. Joorhundert säit mä ame Schemel mit vier Bäi, wo ufwändig gstaltet und bolsteret si, Daburett (franzöösisch tabouret).[1]
Schemel hai mäistens drei oder vier Bäi, d Mälchschemeli häi nume äins und wärde mit eme Rieme am Liib aabunde.
