Barry Altschul je američki jazz bubnjar.[1]
Biografija
Rođen je 6. januara 1943. u New York
Od 1960. bio je učenik Charliea Persipa a krajem 60ih učenik Sama Ulana. U tom vremenu je redovno nastupao sa Paulom Blayom, sa kojim poslije i sarađuje. 1969. godine, sa Chick Corea, Dave Holland i Anthony Braxton osniva grupu Circle.
1972. godine,zajedno sa Anthonyom Braxtonom i Samom Riversom, koje je predvodio Dave Holland, snima album Conference of the Birds .
Istovremeno je sarađivao sa Paulom Blayom, Alanom Silvom i Andrew Hillom. U 80im je Altschal radio kao vođa grupe sa Rayom Andersonom i Markom Helias.
Poslije se Altschal povlači iz koncertnog rada. Od početka 2000. nastupa sa FAB-trio (Joe Fonda i Billy Bang) sa kojima 2003. izdaje i album.
