Hemokinski (C-C motivni) ligand 16 (CCL16) jest mali citokin koji pripada porodici CC hemokina i poznat je pod nekoliko pseudonima, uključujući hemokine koji eksprimira jetra (LEC) i monotaktin-1 (MTN-1). Ovaj hemokin se ekspimira u jetri, timusu i slezeni i hemoatraktivan je za monocite i limfocite.[3] Ćelijska ekspresija CCL16 može se snažno inducirati u monocitima pomoću InterleukinIL-10, IFN-γ i bakterijsi lipopolisaharid. Njegov gen nalazi se na hromosomu 17, kod ljudi, među skupinom ostalih CC-hemokina.[4] CCL16 izaziva učinke na ćelije interakcijom sa hemokinskim receptorima na površini ćelije, kao što su CCR1, CCR2, CCR5 i CCR8.[5][6]
C-C motiv hemokinskih liganada 16 pronađen je u visokim nivoima u ljudskoj krvnoj plazmi.[7] CCL16 može biti koristan za promet eozinofila. Utvrđeno je da ovaj ligand ima funkcionalni afinitet za H4 receptore koji se eksprimiraju u eozinofilima i mastocitima.[7] Pokazano je da ovaj hemokin suzbija brzu proliferaciju mijeloidnih progenitornih ćelija.[8]
