Gluon
Gluoni su elementarne čestice[1] koje su odgovorne za jaku nuklearnu silu, tj. silu koja djeluje između kvarkova, pa time posredno i nukleona, ali također i između samih gluona. Gluoni su vektorski baždarni bozoni i teorija kvantne hromodinamike predviđa postojanje osam nezavisnih tipova.
Za razliku od čestica koje prenose ostale fundamentalne sile, gluoni zbog svog jakog međudjelovanja ne postoje kao slobodne čestice, već su dio složenih čestica koje se zovu hadroni. Zbog toga se i međudjelovanje između nukleona ne prenosi direktno gluonima, već hadronima koji se zovu mezoni.
