Haptanthaceae je monotipska porodica cvjetnica u redu Buxales, razred Magnoliopsida, divizija Tracheophyta.[1] Imenovana je po jedinom i tipskom rodu Haptanthus.
Jedina vrsta, Haptanthus hazlettii je endem Hondurasa, spisan je 1989. godine i nikada nije prikupljena ponovo, uprkos brojnim pokušajima.[2][3] U stvari, neki autori smatraju da je ona izumrla.[4]. Porodica je prepoznata u najmodernijem sistemu filogenetske klasifikacije angiospermi, APG III sistemu klasifikacije.[5][6][7]
Opis
To je grm potpuno glabrozan, sa nasuprotnim listovima, jednostavnim, cijelovitim i bez žljezdaste punktacije. Ne postoje zalisci. Cvast se sastoji od jednog cvjetnog plodnog lista (karpele) s dvije grane, svaka od po 5-6 cvjetnih peteljki. Nemaju perijant, već samo malene brakteriole. Cvjetovi imaju jedan prašnik, a karpela je trifolijasta plodnica s tri dugačka vrata tučka i jajnik s tri parijetalne placente, od kojih svake ima 8 do 15 ovula u dva reda[8][9]
