Protein melanomskog antigena porodice A, 5 je protein koji je kod ljudi kodiran genom MAGEA5.[2]
Ovaj gen je član porodice gena MAGEA. Članovi ove porodice kodiraju proteine s 50 do 80% međusobnog identiteta sekvence. Promotori i prvi egzoni gena MAGEA pokazuju znatnu varijabilnost, što sugerira da postojanje ove porodice gena omogućava da ista funkcija bude izražena pod različitim kontrolama transkripcije. Geni MAGEA skupljeni su na hromosomskoj poziciji Xq28. Upleteni su u neke nasljedne poremećaje, kao što je dyskeratosis congenita. Ovaj MAGEA gen kodira protein koji je na C-kraju skraćen u odnosu na ostale članove porodice, a može se alternativno protumačiti kao pseudogen. Protein je predstavljen u ovom zapisu gena u skladu sa pretpostavljenim statusom kodiranja proteina definiranim u literaturi. Pročitana transkripcija postoji između ovog gena i gena A, 10 (MAGEA10) porodice antigena melanoma (prema RefSeq).
