Mahuna
Mahuna (lat. legumen) je oblik pojedinačnih, pucajućih plodova. Ovakvi plodovi otvaraju se pucajući na dva uzdužna šava, „trbušnog“ i „leđnog“. Kao i miješak, nastaje od jednog oplodnog listića. Tipska mahuna je duguljasta, čija veličina zavisi od broja sjemenki na trbušnom šavu (kao naprimjer mahune vrste Laburnum vulgare). Ima i znatno izmijenjenih mahuna u odnosu na tipsku. Takve mahune su:
- naduvena,
- spljoštena,
- brojaničasta,
- uvijena, i
- sabljasta mahuna.
Također postoje i nepucajuće mahune, kao naprimjer kod gledičije i rogača.[1]
