OpenBSD jest Unixu-sličan operativni sistem. Projekt proizvodi slobodnu, multi-platformu 4.4BSD-baziran UNIX-u sličan operativni sistem. Trud se najviše ulaže u portabilnost, standardizaciju, ispravnost, proaktivnu sigurnost i integrisanu kriptografiju.[1] OpenBSD podržava binarnu emulaciju većine programa od SVR4 (Solaris-a), FreeBSD-a, Linux-a, BSD/OS-a, SunOS-a i HP-UX-a. OpenBSD je slobodno dostupan sa FTP stranice, ali je također dostupan u jeftinom 3-CD setu. OpenBSD su razvili dobrovoljci.
