Paramilon je ugljikohidrat sličan škrobu. Hloroplasti u rodu Euglena sadrže hlorofil koji pomaže u sintezi ugljikohidrata koji se skladište u obliku škrobnih granula i paramilona. Paramilon se stvara u pirenoidima euglena.[1] Euglenidi imaju hlorofile a i b, a fotosintetetske proizvode pohranjuju u neobičnom obliku koji se naziva paramilonski škrob, β-1,3 polimer glukoze. Paramilon je uskladišten u tijelima sličnim šipkama širom citoplazme, zvana paramilonska tijela, koja su na svjetlosnoj mikroskopiji često vidljiva kao bezbojne ili bijele čestice. Njihov oblik je često specifičan za vrste roda Euglena koje ih proizvode.[2]
