Tovaria (nom. cons.) je mali rod u zasebnoj porodici Tovariaceae cvjetnica u redu Brassicales, razred Magnoliopsida, divizija Tracheophyta.[1]
Poznate su samo dvije vrste ovog roda-porodice: Tovaria pendula raste od Meksika na sjeveru, na jug do Perua i Bolivije,[2] te Tovaria diffusa endem sa Jamajke.[3]
Opis
Ovo su jednogodišnje ili višegodišnje biljke i grmovi. Listovi su naizmjenični, cjeloviti, mirisni. Stomni aparati paracitnog tipa. Sekundarno debljanje izaziva aktivnost kambija. U ksilemu nalaze se libriformna vlakna. Ovo su jednodomne biljke.
Cvasti su u vidu konusne i izdužene četverougaone četkice. Nemaju slobodnog hipantija. Parovi zaperaka su dvostruki, čašica i krunica su međusobno odvojene. Prašinici su pričvršćene na dnu (u obliku strelice). Ginecij je sinkarpan (karperle srasle). Plod je mesnata bobica. Sjemenke su male, s dobro razvijenim endospermom, bogatim mastima. Embrion je dobro diferenciran, sa dva kotiledona. [4]
