Tyr
Tyr (stnord. Týr [tyːr]; lat. Tius) je u nordijskoj mitologiji bog povezan sa zakonom i herojskom slavom, zamišljen kao muškarac sa jednom rukom. Njegova majka je lijepa div-žena Hroðr, a otac Hymir (div) ili Odin (vrhovni bog). Prema teorijama, Tyr je možda izvorno bio nordijsko vrhovno božanstvo, čiju slavu su kasnije „preuzeli“ Odin i njegov sin Thor.[1] Moguće je da je Tyr imao i suprugu, čije ime nije preživjelo. U starorimskoj religiji, Tyrov pandan je Mars.[2]
Etimologija
Tyrovo ime doslovno znači „bog“ (množina tívar = „bogovi“) te dolazi od drevne germanske riječi *Tīwaz, koja pak dolazi od praindoevropske riječi *deiwós = „bog“.[3]

Bog Tyr je spomenut i u Starijoj i u Mlađoj Eddi. U Eddama, Tyr je prikazan kao bog velike hrabrosti i mudrosti, kojem je vuk Fenrir, Lokijev sin, odgrizao desnu ruku jer su ga drugi bogovi vezali.
Tokom Ragnaröka, Tyr će ubiti psa Garmra, ali će i sam umrijeti od ozljeda.[4]
