Windows Server je tržišno ime za grupu serverskih operativnih sistema. Prvo takvo izdanje Windows je bio Windows Server 2003, iako je Microsoft prije toga imao serversko izdanje Windowsa koji se zvao Windows NT 3.1 Advanced Server, a poslije njega su bili Windows NT 3.5 Server, Windows NT 4.0 Server i Windows 2000 Server koji je prvo izdanje serverskog sistema koji je uključivao Active Directory, DNS Server, DHCP Server, Group Policy, SQL Server, kao i mnoge druge popularne funkcije koje se i danas koriste.
