Haute Valleé
Haute Vallée School is a Secondary school with 1200+ students, owned and operated by the States of Jersey, and located in the parish of St Helier in Jersey.[2] Stuart Hughes was appointed headteacher in 2017.[3] HistoryThe school was opened in 1995.[4] The House System at Haute Vallée School was established in 2005 and had four houses; Filquet, Kempt, Rocco and Seymour.[5] Academic performanceIn 2022 12% of pupils achieved A* - C GCSE in five subjects, compared to 58% in all Jersey schools and 53% for all UK schools.[6] The figure for 2010 was 20%.[6] Some other Jersey schools, such as Grainville School and Le Rocquier School, also performed poorly in 2011.[6] Other independent schools in Jersey performed much better.[6] In 2018, the school banned mobile telephones in order to improve students' results.[7] In 2019, 67% of pupils achieved 5 9-1 GCSE grades.[8] School buildingsThe school buildings were designed by Architecture PLB.[9] They are energy-efficient and are designed around a central open space, with a granite-clad tower as a reminder of Jersey's history.[9] The school hall also functions as a 350-seat theatre.[9] Currently, Haute Vallée is the only school in Jersey with a swimming pool. AwardsIn 2022 Haute Vallee was awarded Green Flag certification by Eco Schools.[10] References
