Czech tennis player (born 2007)
Jan Kumstát (born 2 January 2007) is a Czech tennis player. He won the boys' doubles event at the 2025 Australian Open .[ 1] [ 2]
Career
In the summer of 2022 he won gold in the singles at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Banská Bystrica .[ 3]
He was part of the Czech team that won the 2023 Junior Davis Cup .[ 4]
Competing in the junior events at the 2024 Australian Open he made his debut at a junior grand slam tournament.[ 5] He defeated home favourite Hayden Jones on his way to reaching the final.[ 6] [ 7] In the final he lost to Rei Sakamoto of Japan.[ 8] He also reached the quarter-finals in the boys' doubles with Norwegian partner Nicolai Budkov Kjaer .[ 9]
Playing alongside compatriot Jan Klimas he reached the final of the boys' doubles at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships where they were defeated by Alexander Razeghi and Max Schönhaus .[ 10] [ 11]
He went into the 2025 Australian Open as the highest-ranked junior in the tournament.[ 12] He reached quarter-final of the boys' singles at the Australian Open in 2025 where he lost to Henry Bernet .[ 13] He also reached the final of the boys' doubles alongside Maxwell Exsted , where they defeated Ognjen Milic and Egor Pleshivtsev for the title.[ 14] [ 15]
Personal life
He is from Prostějov , he is the son of ice hockey player Pavel Kumstát and nephew of Petr Kumstát . His mother Kateřina was a volleyball player.[ 16]
