Jaylon Jones (born April 3, 2002) is an American professional football cornerback for the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Texas A&M .
Early years
Jones attended Byron P. Steele II High School in Cibolo, Texas .[ 1] As a senior in 2019 Under Armour All-American . A five-star recruit, Jones committed to Texas A&M University to play college football .[ 2] [ 3]
College career
Jones started all 10 games as a true freshman at Texas A&M in 2020. He finished the season with 30 tackles and one interception .[ 4] As a sophomore in 2021, he started all 13 games, recording 35 tackles and two interceptions.[ 5] He returned to A&M as a starter in 2022.[ 6]
Professional career
Jones was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts with the 221st overall pick in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL draft .[ 9]
Jones entered his rookie season in 2023 fourth on the cornerback depth chart. He was thrust into the starting lineup following injuries to Dallis Flowers and JuJu Brents . He held the starting job for most of the season, and finished with 44 tackles and five pass breakups through 17 games and 10 starts.[ 10]
In Week 3 of the 2024 season, Jones recorded his first two career interceptions in a 21-16 win against the Chicago Bears , earning AFC Defensive Player of the Week.[ 11]
