Springdale is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) located within Cherry Hill Township, in Camden County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey.[7] As of the 2010 United States Census, the section population was 14,518.[8]

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP had a total area of 5.353 square miles (13.86 km2), including 5.349 square miles (13.85 km2) of land and 0.004 square miles (0.010 km2) of water (0.08%).[9][10]

Census 2010

The 2010 United States census counted 14,518 people, 5,230 households, and 4,121 families in the CDP. The population density was 2,714.3 people per square mile (1,048.0 people/km2). There were 5,434 housing units at an average density of 1,015.9 units per square mile (392.2 units/km2). The racial makeup was 82.80% (12,021) White, 3.51% (509) Black or African American, 0.07% (10) Native American, 11.45% (1,662) Asian, 0.01% (2) Pacific Islander, 0.44% (64) from other races, and 1.72% (250) from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.32% (337) of the population.[8]

Of the 5,230 households, 35.3% had children under the age of 18; 69.8% were married couples living together; 6.7% had a female householder with no husband present and 21.2% were non-families. Of all households, 18.8% were made up of individuals and 10.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.70 and the average family size was 3.09.[8]

24.5% of the population were under the age of 18, 5.4% from 18 to 24, 19.2% from 25 to 44, 31.8% from 45 to 64, and 19.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 45.5 years. For every 100 females, the population had 92.4 males. For every 100 females ages 18 and older there were 88.3 males.[8]

Census 2000

As of the 2000 United States Census[4] there were 14,409 people, 5,186 households, and 4,138 families living in the CDP. The population density was 1,032.2 people/km2 (2,673 people/sq mi). There were 5,318 housing units at an average density of 380.9 units/km2 (987 units/sq mi). The racial makeup of the CDP was 87.72% White, 2.40% African American, 0.05% Native American, 9.04% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.11% from other races, and 0.68% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.22% of the population.[11]

There were 5,186 households, out of which 35.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 72.0% were married couples living together, 5.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 20.2% were non-families. 17.7% of all households were made up of individuals, and 8.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.69 and the average family size was 3.06.[11]

In the CDP the population was spread out, with 24.4% under the age of 18, 4.7% from 18 to 24, 23.2% from 25 to 44, 32.2% from 45 to 64, and 15.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 44 years. For every 100 females there were 91.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 86.9 males.[11]

The median income for a household in the CDP was $96,412, and the median income for a family was $107,496. Males had a median income of $71,638 versus $42,247 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $43,752. About 1.8% of families and 3.6% of the population were below the poverty line, including 2.7% of those under age 18 and 9.4% of those age 65 or over.[11]
