Template talk:International athletics competitions

May be add links to European Indoor Championships and European Team Championships? (WildCherry06 (talk) 09:37, 20 June 2009 (UTC))[reply]
Due to size restrictions, adding them would require a template size change similar to the test code below. What do you think? It does have the added bonus of lining up all the IAAF events... Sillyfolkboy (talk) (edits)WIKIPROJECT ATHLETICS NEEDS YOU! 10:09, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hmmmmm... not sure if you realised but you kind of lose the connections between the events. Currently it's roughly organised as: IAAF events, IOC events, other events. How about moving Universiade to the similar/related Olympics events, world records to the IAAF section (as they ratify them), and group the EAA comps with the Commonwealth Games as "others"?
Alternatively, we could change the bottom EAA line to read "EEA – Championships: Outdoor  · Indoor  · Team". What do you think? Sillyfolkboy (talk) (edits)WIKIPROJECT ATHLETICS NEEDS YOU! 05:50, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I think, what the second version is better (06:47, 24 June 2009 (UTC))
I'll put it in now then. Sillyfolkboy (talk) (edits)WIKIPROJECT ATHLETICS NEEDS YOU! 21:23, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Missing category

Ibero-American Championships (no multi-sports event), CAC Championships and Central American Championships (no continental championships) do not really fit into the scheme of Template:International athletics. Something like "Regional", "Cultural", or "Other" might be helpful.CroesJ (talk) 10:43, 9 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

NACAC Combined Events

There are no more NACAC Combined Events. Instead, the Pan American Combined Events Cup organized by the Association of Panamerican Athletics, rather than by NACAC is held, also comprising athletes from CONSUDATLE. This does not really fit into the "Continental" scheme of Template:International athletics. Something like "Pan American" or "Americas" might be helpful.CroesJ (talk) 10:53, 9 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Athletics World Cup

The new 'Athletics World Cup' does not belong in this category. It's not organised by the IAAF and it's not an international championship event. It's essentially an invitational competition between a select few countries, dressed up to look more important than it really is. It's in the same category as the Decanation or Thorpe Cup; if those two competitions aren't listed here, then neither should the Athletics World Cup.
