Aima Arabako hegoaldeko herri hustu bat da, Trebiñuko konderritik oso hurbil, hegoalderantz. Aima gaur egun Baroja, Faidu eta Lotza kontzejuen zati den herri hustua da. Kontzeju horiek Urizaharreko udalean daude, Araban.
Aima toponimoa Donemiliagako goldean, 1025. urteko dokumentuan, aipatzen da, baina bere garaian Alma bezala transkribatzen zen. Koldo Mitxelenak, baina, beste batzuek <l> ikusten zuten tokian <i> altu bat behar zuela idatzi zuen bere TAV[1] hartan:

Gerardo López de Gereñuk Aima pare bat aipatzen ditu, biak XVII. mendeko dokumentu batean, Lagran aldeko labore-lur pare baten izenak: AIMA, 1671, AIMA BAZTERRA 1671.[2]
