Altis
Altis (Ἀλτις antzinako grezieraz ) ἄλσος ("basoa", "baso sakratua", "barruti sakratua") [1] hitzetik da eratorria. Peloponeson kokatuta zegoen, zehazki Élide, Alfeo ibaiaren eskuinaldeko ertzeko lautada txiki batean, Pirgos hiritik gertu, Ioniako itsasotik 18 kilometrora eta Cronio mendiaren magalean. Hasiera batean, baso sakratua zen eta bertan zuhaitz bikainak zeuden.
