Astrakan
Astrakan karakul arkumearen larru mota da, oso estimatua larrugintzan, batez ere kapelak eta berokiak egiteko. Luxuzko produktu da, oso berogarri den ile kizkur eta leuna dela-eta.
Larru mota hau lortzeko arkume jaioberriarena (3 egun gehienez) edo hilaurrarena izan behar du. Azken hauek dira estimatuenak, ilea sarri-sarria, leun-leuna eta beltz-beltza delako. Askotan, umegaltzea berezkoa dela esaten bada ere, sarri umekia ardi-amaren sabeletik aterarazten da ernaldiaren azken egunetan larrua lortu ahal izateko. Arkume bakoitzetik lortutako larru azalera oso txikia denez, animalia ugari behar dira jantzi bakarra lortzeko (beroki bat egiteko 30 bat behar dira). Urtean lauzpabost milioi arkume hiltzen dira mundu osoan astrakan eskaerari aurre egiteko.
Izena Astrakhan hiritik datorkio (egungo Errusian dagoena), XV-XVI. mendeetan khanerri mongol baten hiriburua izan zena.
