Bandua galaikoen eta lusitaniarren jainko nagusietako bat zen, gerraren jainkotzat hartua eta Erdialdeko Europako tradizio zeltikoari lotua.
Ikertzaileek lehen funtzioko jainko indoeuropar gisa kokatzen dute (Georges Dumézizil-en azterketen arabera). Jainko hori «lakioen magia» erabiltzeko, etsaiak lotzeko edo jarraitzaileak magikoki lotzeko erabiltzen da. Gerraren edo ehizaren lanbidean aritzen ziren mendietan bizi ziren gudarien kofradien gizarte-egiturak gurtza sortu zuen, magikoki harremanak izaten zituzten jainkotasunaren alderdiak islatzen zituzten jarrerak eta moduak hartuz.
