Basauriko espetxea Bizkaiko izen bereko herrian dagoen espetxea da. 1964. urtean eraiki egin zuten eta 115 ziega ditu gaur egun. Bertan 385 preso daudenez, masifikatuta dago[1].
1976ko ihesaldia
1976ko abenduaren 10an, Bost preso desagertu ziren Basauriko espetxetik. Ihes egin zutela pentsatu zuten guztiek eta beraiek bilatzeko operazio erraldoia jarri zuen martxan Espainiako Poliziak. Preso hauek, ordea, 52 egunez egon ziren teilatuan edo ganbaran ezkutatuta, behin betiko ihesa prestatzen. Presoak ziren: ETAko Patxi Arana eta José Ignacio Aramayo; PCE(r)-ko Pedro Martínez Ilarduya eta José Vicente Daroca eta Santiago Marcos Tolsa preso sozialak.
