Bessie Smith (1894ko apirilaren 15a - 1937ko irailaren 26a) blues abeslari afroamerikarra izan zen, Jazz Aroan oso ezaguna. "Empress of the Blues (Bluesaren enperatriza)" ezizenarekin, 1930. hamarkadako blues abeslari ezagunena izan zen. 1989an Rock and Roll Hall of Fame-n sartu zen. Bere garaiko abeslari handienetakotzat hartzen da maiz, eta eragin handia izan zuen blues abeslarien eta jazz abeslarien artean.[1]
